What is tooth bonding?
Tooth bonding is a process in which an enamel-like dental composite material is applied to a tooth’s surface, sculpted into shape, hardened and then polished.
What is adhesive dentistry?
Adhesive dentistry is a branch of dentistry which mainly deals with adhesion or bonding of the adhesive material or cements to the natural substance of teeth, enamel and dentin.
As a modern science, adhesive dentistry studies:
- The nature and strength of the adhesion to dental hard tissues
- Properties of adhesive materials
- Causes and mechanisms of failure of the bonds
- Clinical techniques for bonding
- Newer applications for bonding such as bonding to the soft tissue.

Contemporary dental medicine offers more options for replacing missing teeth than just crowns and bridges.
For some people, dental implants are the way to go to create or restore the appearance of a natural smile. Plus, it can be more comfortable for some situations.
How are dental implants implanted?
Dental Implants are actually fused to the bone below the gum level.
How long does it take for dental implants?
The surgical procedure is done over a few appointments.
Are dental implants a good teeth replacement option?
Since they’re fused, they offer greater stability and serve as the foundation for replacement teeth. In addition, many people find their replacement teeth feel much more natural than other replacement solutions.
It’s important to note that dental implants candidates need to have healthy gums and enough bone to support the implant. If you are looking for a cosmetic dentist in the North Canton or surrounding Ohio areas, contact Dr. Mike can provide a thorough examination and evaluation to determine if dental implants are right for you.
The images below illustration how implants are fused to the bone.

If you’ve lost several, or even all, of your natural teeth, dentures might be the solution for you.
What are the cons of missing teeth?
Missing teeth can not only make eating a challenge, it can effect your speech, overall health and even your appearance. Without proper support, facial muscles tend to sag, giving a person an older appearance.
What different types of dentures are there?
There are several types of dentures. A conventional full denture procedure can take several months to complete. Any remaining teeth must first be removed and the tissue needs time to heal properly. Once healed, the denture is made and placed in the patient’s mouth.
An immediate denture is made and inserted after any remaining teeth are removed. But first the dentist will take a variety of jaw measurements during a preliminary visit. Next, models of the patient’s jaw are made to insure a good, custom fit. Immediate dentures make it possible for the patient to avoid any toothless time during the healing process.
It’s important to note that even with full dentures, the patient must continue to practice good oral hygiene. Gums should be brushed each day, along with the tongue and palate before inserting the dentures. A soft-bristled brush is good for this regime to help stimulate blood circulation and remove plaque.
Below is an example of what dentures can do for the appearance of your mouth:
